Save Money on Taxes

We all want to save money on our taxes each year right?

One unique way to do this is to NOT have your annual garage sale. Instead, give your items to charity and write it off as a charitable gift.

In our effort to simplify our lives, we should quarterly take a look around our homes and determine what hasn't been touched or looked at in several months. If an item falls into this category, GIVE IT AWAY!

It reduces the clutter and chaos in your home, and at the same time saves you money on your taxes!

Write It Down - NOW

Do you keep a daily to-do list?
I get so much satisfaction from crossing things off my list everyday. This gives me a sense of accomplishment and helps me keep sane. I use a spiral notebook for this. It is small and easy to keep by me in the kitchen where I spend most of my time.
If you don't already do this, try it this coming week. As soon as you think of something you would like to get done, jot it down in your notebook so it doesn't get left behind.
Our brains have enough to remember. When you write things down, your brain can rest knowing it won't be forgotten.

The Early Bird Syndrome

Do you constantly struggle with the task of getting your to-do-list accomplished. Just not enough time in the day right?
I felt this way recently, so I started something new this week. I have been getting up earlier at 5 am so that I can work some while my 2 little angels are still asleep. It is amazing how much I have accomplished in 2 hours of non-interrupted work time, rather than a whole day of sporadic sessions at the computer while tending to the needs of my children. I can now spend QUALITY time with them and not worry about getting back to the pc so fast.
This was not easy for me. I am a night owl, not a morning person. Just ask my husband :) But I am so proud of myself for doing this 5 days in a row. What do they say? If you start something new for 3 weeks straight, it will become a habit? Guess I have 2 more weeks to go!
I'll update you here next week and let you know if I pass the test of early rising next week or not :)

Is it a Monster?

No, it's my 2 year old!

You know what this is. The screaming, kicking, head-butting, dramatic act that occurs when you tell your 2 year old "NO". What are we supposed to do when this happens in public?

According to
Dr. Swanson, we need to have plenty of practice in private and just be consistent.

This article helps give us some ideas on how to survive temper tantrums with our 2 year olds, and in some case our older children too.

Do you Homeschool?

I have been seriously thinking about homeschooling my daughters when they reach school age. My oldest will turn 5 in November and my youngest is now 2 1/2.

I came across this
FAQ by a fellow mom and I found it very helpful in my quest for more information on homeschooling.

If any of you homeschool, please leave me tips or suggestions in the comments section. I am still debating whether I can do it or not.

Are your kids well behaved?

My kids pick and choose when they want to behave. They especially pick the times when other adults are present or we are in a public place to decide, Umm, I think I will NOT do what my mom says right now. Lets see how she reacts?!?!

I signed up for a monthly grocery service this month in my quest to simplify my life and make better use of my time.....Well, low and behold when the truck shows up with my new freezer and 6 months worth of groceries, my 4 yr old decides that she wants the stroller the 2 yr old is playing with, and proceeds to scream at the top of her lungs. I know the delivery man outside in the garage thought I was beating my child. She decided she was going to continue this for the next 15 minutes non-stop. How come it always happens when someone else is present?

I found this article today that helped me out on some things to try to make sure the kids are well behaved.
